Hi, I’m Mike Greiner. I’m an Attorney here with Financial Law Group located in Warren Michigan on 12 and Hoover and I’m here to talk to you about Estate Planning.

One of the things that we’ve done for a lot of people is we’ve been able to set up Trusts for them. We do an entire Trust package, which includes doing the Trust documents. It includes doing the Durable Power of Attorney for health, which is like a living will that will allow you to direct your doctors how you would want to be treated when you’re in your final stages of your life. We also do what’s called a Pour Over Will, which basically, takes any assets that are left out there that have not been put into your Trust already and puts them into the Trust.  We also do what’s called a Durable Power of Attorney related to your financial affairs, so if you’re incapacitated for some reason that relative or some friend who’s able to step in and kind of take care of things like taxes and paying your bills while your incapacitated.

We do all these things because we want to make sure that you have a thorough Estate Planning package. One more thing that we do when we do Estate Planning for our clients is we will also actually take care of funding the Trust, which means we will initially notify things like your your bank and brokers.  We will file the proper documents with the county to make sure that your property is properly protected. All those things are critical elements in an Estate, in a good Estate Plan and we take care of the whole package for you.
